Hey everyone! Man it’s been a minute! Lots of changes over here at Summit Pool & Spa but all for the better! We’re excited for this year - it’s already started off with a bang now that we’ve finally got some good weather! Here’s a pool from last week - this transformation was after only ONE visit. Way to go team!

Snagged this shot from what turned out to be a pretty terrible attempt at a time lapse 😅🤦🏻♂️ This last week we added a new service to our business - underwater leak patching! I love watching the evolution of our business and adding in new services to offer our customers. As mentioned in previous posts, it’s been hard to get certain specialty work done within the pool industry. There are HUGE delays in scheduling repairs like this. SO! Now we’ve got you covered! Thanks to .ocean.sports for getting us set up with all the right gear! More to come as we expand our underwater capabilities 🚀.
Here’s a bit on why underwater leak patching is a great temporary repair. There’s a LOT of old pools in the area that have structural issues. Most of the time it will become recognized by long cracks that can extend from the tile line and work their way down to the floor of the pool. Sometimes a crack will literally form spanning from one side of the pool to the other 👀 In our experience, it’s only a matter of time before these cracks begin to actually cause the pool to lose water.
In this instance, the customer had leak detection performed and leaks were pin pointed to each crack that extended down the walls, 4 in total. We also found some additional cracks in the tile line that we patched as well. Fortunately for us, the customer was not all that concerned about the cosmetics of it all 😅 more focused on not loosing 6-8 inches of water every week! It was a perfect set up for our first job. We learned a lot, and we’re looking forward to patch some more of these pools that are actively leaking! Save water - call Summit Pool & Spa 💧❌

Excited for this one! .
We recently returned from a training seminar by Pentair in Reno and it was incredible. Heater Troubleshooting, Water Chemistry, UV Sanitation, Salt Systems and more. I highly encourage any pool pros to attend one if you haven’t. As we were driving back I was thinking about the year and took a moment to reflect on the rollercoaster that was 2021. To date, we’ve added approximately 100 new weekly customers, grew our team of technicians from three to five and actively accepting resumes for more now! The experience of our technicians grew exponentially and this offseason is going to be packed with even more education and training programs. That’s the great news! Here’s some of the issues we faced. .
We experienced shortages that people with 50+ years in the industry have never experienced. We ended up making almost daily visits to our distributor, and finding new distributors since they were rationing parts and chemicals. Labor shortages also choked a lot of business growth, and actually caused a lot of businesses within the industry to close. Specialty services in the industry like leak detection, pool cover install and repair, etc saw a number of businesses close their doors. Those still in business are mostly booked out months in advance if not for the majority of 2022 with many of them not taking on new clientele at all. .
Just like 2020, many many lessons learned. We anticipate 2022 to continue with chemical shortages so we are stocking up to ensure our customers are insulated from supply fluctuations. In terms of staffing we are currently well over staffed and looking to hire more in anticipation for our biggest year ever. .
Our systems and processes are always being refined to accommodate changes in our business and the external challenges we’ve faced. Ask the guys! We’re always tweaking different ways we do things to better our service and it’s allowed us to become well known in the region as the go-to service company. .
Couldn’t be more excited for 2022! We’ll see you out there! ✌🏼.
