From Forgotten to Famous. 💖🐾

Trevor spent his entire life as an outdoor dog, isolated from the people and canine companionship he so clearly loves. You'd never know it by meeting him today. He is an incredibly social boy with wonderful people and dog skills, greeting everyone he meets with infectious joy and a wagging tail.

These days, he's become something of a therapy dog at Make Studio, a Baltimore-based nonprofit art center and professional community for artists with disabilities, where his foster mom, Terri, works. He’s the perfect office assistant, and his calm, affectionate nature has made him a beloved companion to the staff and artists alike, bringing joy wherever he goes.

He's become such a fixture at the studio that he's now something of a local celebrity. Staff members bring friends and family by to meet him, and he's being featured in Make Studio's upcoming promotional campaign, appearing in a large window mural advertising their annual August sale. In true artistic fashion, the painting pairs him with Captain Stubing from The Love Boat. We have no idea what inspired that combination, but somehow it makes the mural even more memorable.

His foster mom, Terri, describes him simply: "Trevor is the coolest, most perfect boy ever." He's house-trained, crate-trained, loves spending time with his canine buddies, makes friends wherever he goes, enjoys car rides, and would make the perfect sidekick for all of life's everyday adventures.

Trevor's story is one of resilience. Years of neglect never broke his spirit, and we think it’s made him appreciate his new life even more. Now all he needs is a family of his own.

While today is a day of celebration, it's also one of the scariest days of the year for many dogs, and some humans, too.

If you live in the DC metro area, expect a full day of military flyovers followed by an exceptionally robust fireworks display tonight. The National Mall fireworks begin around 11:00 PM, and many local celebrations will have fireworks earlier, so it could be a full day of loud activity. For dogs who are fearful of loud noises, this can be an incredibly stressful day.

Please take extra precautions. Keep your pets safely indoors, make sure they're wearing ID tags, secure gates and doors, and provide a quiet, comfortable place where they can retreat if they become anxious. A little planning today can help keep your best friend safe.
