Been a minute. Life is lifin’ all at me. Finally getting the studio set up in our new environs…
Hopefully, there’ll be some new stuff soon…

So I’ve been trying to think of a way to announce this song. Quite a departure from the lovelorn pop of Love & Madness, There Were Times is a brutally open and honest pulling back the curtain on a traumatic and formative chapter of my life that has never left me even to this very day.
I recorded this song back in 2008 at a friend’s studio. (He had much better equipment than I did). And yet I feel like this is somehow an unfinished piece. I had intended on adding more instrumentation to it. But that never materialized unfortunately. Best laid plans and all that.
Nevertheless, it’s an important stop on our journey through my vault. In my humble opinion, it’s one of the best songs I’ve ever written. It ain’t the catchiest; there are no hooks. It’s gritty and real and full of of raw emotion. The lyrics bleed on the page like blood from my veins.
A songwriter wants to write something meaningful, something real — even if it hurts. Believe me, this one does. But there’s something healing about writing it all down, singing it out loud, and facing the ugly truth of it.
There Were Times is available everywhere.

This Friday… more new-to-you music as I dig deeper into the dusty old chest full of songs from the way-way backs.
This collection is called Too Far from Nowhere. You’ll definitely hear my love of electronica, heart-on-your-sleeve lyrics, and unsophisticated recording ability.
I’m only knee deep in the stockpile yet and there’s a long way to go. All of this is leading up to actual new music that’s finally on its way.
Till then, I hope you enjoy this collection of perfectly imperfect pieces of homespun music from a caveman with a Gateway and a $40 mic.
