The Growing Project

As we plan our closing as an organization, we've been working hard to relocate as much of our work as we can. We're beyond thrilled to share that the Cultural Enrichment Center will be taking over stewardship of our Commons Garden in Old Town at the start of the year!

We've worked with the CEC in the past, and they're an amazing organization. We've transferred the entirety of our garden to them, including most of our seeds and supplies, and we can't wait to see what they do with the garden space. We hope you'll support them as you've supported us! If you aren't familiar with the CEC's work yet, find them at FoCo Cultural Enrichment Center or fococec.org. 🎉

A medida que planificamos nuestro cierre como organización, hemos estado trabajando arduamente para reubicar la mayor parte posible de nuestro trabajo. ¡Estamos más que emocionados de compartir que el Centro de Enriquecimiento Cultural se hará cargo de la administración de nuestro Jardín Común en Old Town a principios de año!

Hemos trabajado con la CEC en el pasado, y es una organización increíble. With hearts full of gratitude, we want to share that this will be our last growing season. The Growing Project will be closing its doors at the end of 2023.

We’ve shared meals, seed swaps, solstice celebrations, and garden work days, and have built and loved a community that has given just as much to us as we have given to it. We’ve created something truly special together over the past 15 years, and our gratitude for that history, and the memories and connections that have come with it, will never fade.

Nosotros, The Growing Project, nos solidarizamos firmemente con la gente de Palestina. Repetimos sus demandas de liberación y libertad, y la denuncia del genecidio, colonialismo, supremacía blanca y apartheid por todos lados y en todas formas.

Damos testimonio del sufrimiento Palestino y llevamos incondicionalmente las voces de los colonizados y oprimidos. We, The Growing Project, stand unwaveringly with the people of Palestine. We echo their demands for liberation and freedom, and the denouncement of genocide, colonialism, white supremacy, and apartheid everywhere and in all forms.

We bear witness to Palestinian suffering and unconditionally center the voices of the colonized and oppressed. We join the efforts to widely share what Palestinians and those on the ground in Gaza are showing the world. We call upon our community to do the same; do not let Palestinian voices be silenced.

Collective action can drive change. Take meaningful action in ways you are able: call and write your representatives to demand a ceasefire, an end to occupation, and an end to U.S. complicity and investment in this genocide; sign petitions; attend protests and rallies; donate to mutual aid causes that are responding on the ground; boycott, divest from, and sanction entities that are funding the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians on their homelands; educate yourself on the history of Palestine and its occupation by Israel.

We mourn the people who have been killed. We join demands for an immediate ceasefire and the end of occupation in its entirety in Palestine. The fight for liberation of Palestine parallels all resistance against colonization, land theft, oppression, and brutality world-wide. Palestine’s fight for liberation is the world’s fight for liberation.

September 30 is National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, originally and still colloquially known as , where we acknowledge the awful legacy of Canada’s Residential schools for Indigenous children, which are responsible for the forced assimilation and cultural genocide of 150,000 First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Nation children, many of whom never returned home.

Today we honor the strength of survivors and also shine a light on the history of , 500+ government- and church-run institutions across the US empire that forced or coerced thousands of Native children from their homes and subjected them to inhumane conditions and sometimes fatal abuse.

The history and legacy of these schools impacts nearly every Native person today. As our communities work toward from this government-mandated trauma, we also celebrate the incredible resilience of survivors, along with their families, Tribal Nations, and communities.🧡
