When a life is taken during a law enforcement operation, the public deserves transparency, accountability, and an independent review.

The Office of Commissioner Rodney Ellis was honored to join families, advocates, and community leaders at the Hope for 4 ceremony to remember Arianca, Bennisha, Detrihanna, and Rashaunda, four young women whose lives were taken far too soon.

Their memories continue to inspire a shared commitment to supporting victims' families, promoting safer roadways, and encouraging responsible choices that help prevent impaired driving and protect our communities.

100 years. One powerful legacy.

Riverside has been part of Houston's history for a century. It provided care when too many Black families were turned away elsewhere and became a place where generations found healing, opportunity, and hope.

This milestone was a chance to celebrate everyone who contributed to Riverside’s extraordinary legacy, from the patients and healthcare workers to the community members who fought to preserve its history.

As Harris County transforms the historic campus into a community health hub and the future home of Harris County Public Health, we're ensuring Riverside continues to serve residents for generations to come.
