I was 18, a freshman at IU when I met Marty. He was 7 years older than me. We became very close friends - brothers even, and since then, Marty has always been there to support me throughout college & professional career. My parents loved Marty in a unique way and they always made sure he had something to eat. Staying connected throughout all these years solidified our friendship. When he was diagnosed with brain cancer, we began to study God’s word.

Romans 8: 10-11says “But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life[d] because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of[e] his Spirit who lives in you.”

Marty accepted the Lord, got baptized and then eventually his wife Michelle got baptized too. He placed his full trust in the Lord and despite his situation, he chose to believe in Jesus. He was a dear brother and a friend, loved and honored by everyone who knew him. See you later, brother.

I pray that you will find peace in Jesus. Have faith in Him, and He will surely deliver you out of your troubles.

I had a great time at the Modern Qualified Plan Symposium of McHenry Advisers in Ohio last week and was able to connect with these awesome men Scott R. McHenry and Jon Giganti during the event.

Regeneration and Hopesong are extra-curricular music groups of Grand View Christian School in Des Moines, Iowa. These groups seek to honor the Lord Jesus Christ with both congregational worship songs and special to share their ministry with like minded churches.
