The Dark Old House (1932)
Directed by the legendary James Wale and released 93 years ago today.
Up there with Frankenstein (1931), Karlof teams up with Wale again with Charles Laughton and Melvin Douglas in this classic horror.
The lighting in this film is hypnotic, and the performance from Karlof as Saul is another great one with twists and turns through the story.
Here's my DVD by Network!

Candyman (1992) - Directed by Bernard Rose and released in the US today, 33 years ago.
Despite only seeing one live death on screen, this film still creeps into my mind and gives me chills from its nightmarish imagery . The score by Philip Glass is hypnotic and up there with one of the greatest horror themes.
This film achieves the downtown horror concept to the fullest and its the performances of Virginia Madsen and Tomy Todd that are the essence of the madness within urban legend.
I first watched this with my mum, who said she could top any horror my dad had shown me when I was younger. Let's just say that when the VHS tape finished, I slept with the lights on. My mum knows what makes a good horror film.
With that, I say, what better horror film to watch this October, so here's my Blu-ray copy of the original!
(Mum still has the VHS)

Puppet Master (1989)
Directed by David Schmoeller and released 36 years ago, this is the start of the Puppet Master series.
As a kid, I loved this movie, along with the Child's Play films, especially the tunneler doll and the Blade puppet.
Yes, this film is rough around the edges, but it's a great laugh with some really unique kills. Don't forget leech woman!
Great for fans of haunted/possessed dolls!
