Madison Judo

on-profit organization committed to promoting the sport of judo as a way to enhance the well-being of its members. Madison Judo is one of the largest judo clubs in Wisconsin and the premier judo club in the Madison area. JUDO: A Japanese fighting art founded in 1882 and an Olympic sport since 1964. It is the most practiced martial art in the world, with several million practitioners. The training includes various throwing techniques, ground grappling which includes; pinning techniques; choking/strangle techniques; arm lock techniques. The last two depend on age. Judo has two main principles we strive to follow:
"Maximum efficiency, minimum effort"
"Mutual welfare and benefit"
Judo can be practiced as a sport, but the goal of the training is also about self improvement, both physically and spiritually. We strive to improve our techniques, physically and on a personal level (mental) as well. The Judo training provides a great fitness workout for the whole body.
