We are proud to announce that this morning the Governor's Cabinet approved funding for the purchase of FISH ISLAND with funds from the Florida Forever program. With this step out of the way, we will now assign our contract with the owner to the State for purchase as a park managed by the City of St. Augustine.
We'd like to thank all the folks who have helped us get here, in particular the hard-working acquisition agents at DEP's Division of State Land, who we worked with side by side on the acquisition. The owners of Fish Island, Jim Young and others, who agreed to work with us on the sale. And the support from organizations like Save Fish Island, Matanzas Riverkeeper and the City of St. Augustine, and Monarch Studio for this and other photos.
