MJ said it best, y'all. We gotta look at the man in the mirror and ask him to change his ways.

Although it may be scary or uncomfortable. It's necessary to take the first step of being willing to look.

This is where you are today. The account balances, the habits, the patterns that are still playing out in real time. Not where you were, not where you're going, but right here, right now.

Because you can't get to where you want to go if you keep looking away from where you actually are.

What does your money present reveal?

Same box. Different starting points. That's the difference between equality and equity, and it's worth sitting with today.

Equality gave everyone the same box, but equity, real equity, recognizes that some of us were standing in a deeper hole to begin with. History dug that hole. Systems maintained it, and good intentions alone won't fill it.

When I think about financial wellness through this lens, I think about the families who were legally free but economically excluded. Redlined out of homeownership. Locked out of generational wealth. Potentially given the same financial education as everyone else, but starting from a completely different place.

Juneteenth isn't just a celebration of what was. It's a challenge to what still is. This Juneteenth, I'm celebrating the progress and committing to the work still ahead.

I've worked with a lot of organizations on financial wellness programming.

And here's the pattern I see over and over: they invest in great content, then wonder why engagement is low, and results are hard to measure.

The missing piece? They're thinking about content delivery, not transformation design.

Instead of asking, "What should we teach?" The question you should ask is, "How do we create lasting change?"

That shift in thinking leads to:

1. Multi-format content that meets people where they are (long-form interviews, social clips, magazine features, live events)

2. Internal amplification where team members engage with the content and bring it into client conversations

3.Community events that turn education into real connection

4.Measurable impact, not just attendance numbers

This program isn't a one-off campaign. It's a system built for sustained engagement and real outcomes.

And the results speak for themselves: families getting tools they can actually use, internal coaches feeling more confident in their guidance, and a brand that's positioned as a trusted partner, not just a service provider.

If you're a credit union director, HR leader, or financial wellness coordinator, here's my challenge: Stop asking, "What content should we create?" and start asking, "What system will create the change we want to see?"

Let's talk about building that system for your organization. Book a call at www.erickayoung.com
