Kitten season is here, and if we’re being honest, we are struggling.

Every day our phones ring. Every day our inbox fills with messages. Every day we receive calls about abandoned kittens, injured cats, homeless dogs, and animals with nowhere else to go. We hear the desperation in people’s voices, and we carry the weight of knowing that every animal needs help. But what many people don’t see are the sleepless nights, the tears, the worry, and the heartbreak.

We are not a government funded organization. We do not receive special discounts or unlimited resources. Every bag of food, every box of litter, every vet bill, every medication, every cleaning supply, every crate, every vaccination, and every life we save is made possible because we work full time jobs to pay for these things. We also couldn’t do what we do if it wasn’t for the amazing people who donates. When people call us, they often assume we have endless funds and unlimited space. The reality is that we are ordinary people doing everything we can with what we have. We work tirelessly, sacrificing our time, our sleep, our personal lives, and often our own finances because we refuse to turn our backs on animals who have no one else.

Right now, we are overwhelmed. Our resources are stretched thin. Our supplies are running low. Our expenses continue to grow. Yet the calls for help never stop. And the hardest part? Looking into the eyes of an innocent animal and knowing they need us when we simply don’t have enough resources to say “yes” to everyone. That is why today we are humbly asking for your help. There is a hungry cat searching for food. There is a dog wondering why it was abandoned. And there is us trying its best to make sure they don’t face those hardships alone. Over the past several weeks, we have been hit with one emergency after another. Animals coming in neglected, abandoned, injured, sick, starving, scared… and every single time, we have stepped in because that’s what we do. We refuse to turn our backs on animals that have no one else. But the truth is… rescue is taking a heavy toll on us right now. Every emergency vet visit, every spay/neuter, every vaccine, every test, every bag of food, every medication, every litter refill, every transport…it adds up fast. While many people see the happy adoption photos, what they often don’t see are the sleepless nights, the tears, the sacrifices, the personal finances poured in, and the constant worry of how we are going to continue.

As many of you know, Little Bit Of Heaven Rescue operates solely on donations and the kindness of our community. We are not government funded. We are a volunteer based rescue, we work full time jobs while still dedicating our lives to these animals. Right now, we have reached a point where we may be forced to temporarily pause new intakes until we can recover financially from the medical emergencies and ongoing care of the animals already depending on us. Writing those words is heartbreaking. There are so many animals that still need help right now, and being forced to say “we can’t right now” is one of the hardest parts of rescue.
