Well, the car definitely isn’t coming home in one piece, but it was a lot of fun while it lasted.

The night started with a few challenges when the car wouldn’t start. After some troubleshooting, we found the issue was the cable that controls putting the car in and out of gear. Once we got that fixed, we were able to get on track and ended up 12th quick in qualifying. That put us on the pole of our heat race, where I led every lap except the last one after missing my entry into Turn 1. It was disappointing to lose the win that late, but overall it was a really strong run.

I pulled the 9 pill for the A-Main, and honestly, it was a lot of fun for most of the feature.. We were racing hard, throwing sliders, making moves, and having a blast. The car was good, even if I found the wall a few times.

Unfortunately, while battling for position, another driver and I were going back and forth until I got slid in Turn 4 and had nowhere to go. The result was a lot of right side damage, bending and breaking just about everything on that side of the car.

It’s frustrating to have your night end that way and load up a torn up race car, especially after how much potential we had. But that’s racing. Some nights you’re celebrating in victory lane, and some nights you’re loading damaged parts into the trailer. We’ll regroup, get everything repaired, and be ready to come back stronger.

We’ll be taking the next two weekends off to rebuild and prepare for our next race at Bloomington Speedway on July 3rd.

A huge thank you to my Grandpa, Uncle, and Aunt for hauling the trailer down so I could race, and to my dad for busting his tail to make it from my brother’s lacrosse tournament to the track. Thank you as well to everyone who helps behind the scenes day in and day out. This sport takes a village, and none of this would be possible without your support.

We’ll get it fixed, learn from it, and be ready for the next one. 💜
