I had a ball playing in the DreamLand Kickball Kickoff!

The kickball tournament was in partnership with the Black Wall Street Legacy Festival. The Dreamland Kickball Kickoff was a day full of fun competition and purpose.

The tournament served as a fundraiser supporting the Dreamland Festival and other nonprofits that go toward helping improve student programs.

It was an honor to sponsor one of the four teams represented. My team fell short in the championship to Team Oasis, but It was a great day to connect with the community! The real winner on Sunday was Dreamland Foundation.

Today, we remember the victims, survivors, and legacy of the Tulsa Race Massacre. One hundred and five years ago, one of the deadliest acts of racial violence in American history devastated Greenwood.

Today, we honor Greenwood’s resilience and remember those whose stories must never be forgotten.

I had the pleasure of attending the “Unheard Voices: Fighting for Her Life” premiere trailer yesterday evening. It was inspiring to listen to and witness the work and passion Dr. Tamecca Rogers has put into this documentary series.

The series tells the stories of women imprisoned after defending themselves against abusive partners. The series raises awareness about the Survivors Act- legislation that was designed to provide legal relief pathways for incarcerated domestic violence survivors. It was great to hear from Dr. Rogers and others about the systemic barriers that remain today.

Every woman deserves dignity, respect, and the opportunity to have her voice taken seriously, regardless of her background, appearance, or circumstances. Oklahoma is strongest when we listen to women, stand with survivors, and work to break down the systemic barriers that continue to harm families and communities across that state.

🚨Major news, Mayor Monroe Nichols just endorsed our campaign!🚨

"I'm endorsing Ron because I know he's going to be a fighter for North Tulsa and our entire city. He's fought alongside me to bring critical resources to our community, and on June 16th, we have to come together to return him to office."

I was honored to speak at the Wrongful Convictions and State Violence: Tulsa Listening Session a couple of days ago. Showing up in the community to stand up for injustices is very important to me. I had the opportunity to discuss HB 1574 – which I helped sponsor – with voters and explain how it will give the Office of Juvenile System Oversight more responsibilities to uncover problems, review records, handle complaints, and hold hearings, which will improve oversight of Oklahoma’s child-serving system.

Additionally, I had the opportunity to answer a question from a younger voter that stood out to me. She asked, “Why should I believe the system can change?” To her I said this, “If you do not vote, your voice will not matter…..The issue also falls back on our sense of community, the Race Massacre (by design) destroyed our sense of community…..If we can get back to engaging with people and making sure they understand that they are not only part of this community, but a valued part of this community, then you will not feel so helpless when things happen because you will have a community behind you that will fight for your behalf.”

In House District 73, our sense of community and togetherness make us truly special. As your representative, I have fought to bring HD 73’s community voice to the Capitol in Oklahoma City because every voice matters, and one voice standing up adds to a collective that can change systems.
