my baby daddy’s friends never liked me.
not because i was toxic.
but because i didn’t let him lie about who he was.
they hated that i asked questions.
hated that i held him accountable.
hated that i didn’t play dumb just to keep the peace.
every time we argued, he ran to them.
and they’d gas him up like
“you ain’t wrong”
“she doing too much”
“you deserve peace”
but peace to them meant my silence.
and peace to him meant no responsibility.
they watched him mess up.
watched him disappoint me.
watched him avoid being a man.
and instead of telling him to do better,
they told him i was the problem.
when i finally walked away, they disappeared too.
no advice. no brotherhood. no backup.
just him alone with the same issues he blamed on me.
that’s when it clicked.
it was never just us.
sometimes it’s not the relationship.
it’s the audience he’s performing for

A person doesn't have to only drain u
with arguments and fights. They can
drain u with lack of communication,
lack of trust, lack of empathy, lack of
apologizing, lack of acknowledgment
and lack of fulfilling your love language.
