All members of the Lin Arison Band are veterans and now retired from the U.S. Army bands across the Nation – with the exception of Lin, a West Point graduate and career Army officer. Founding members are Master Sergeants Dean Miller and Lew Chapman, Sergeant First Class Mike Johnson, and Lieutenant Colonel Lin Arison. Special thanks to Command Sergeant Major Loran McClung, and Sergeants Major Jim
Perry and Jim Roberts for their masterful work on select songs. Please see details in the discography below. Originally known as the L.A. Band when they formed in Atlanta, Georgia in the early 1980s, their first song “Reveille” was popular on Atlanta’s jazz program “Jazz Flavours” hosted by Russ Davis on 94Q. Six of the 11 songs on this CD were recorded at Real to Reel Studios in Stockbridge, Georgia in the early 1980s on a TASCAM 80-8 (½” 8-Track AMPEX tape): “Reveille”, “Glissade”, “Things We Do Together”, “Spirit Sail”, “Disneyworld” and “Farewell to Anna”. Scott Long was the Engineer. With the exception of “Farewell to Anna”, all songs on this CD are Lin’s compositions. (While a cadet at West Point, Lin was honored to be a member of the West Pont Glee Club’s acclaimed “Headliners” folk group. A fellow Headliner, Hank Hoffman wrote “Farewell to Anna” and the lead vocal was recorded by Headliner Tupper Hillard.) In August of 1982, basic tracks for “Street Dance” and “Waves” were laid down at Sheffield Studios in Baltimore, Maryland and Starting Point Studios in Alexandria, Virginia, respectively. Two more of Lin’s songs were also recorded at the U.S. Army Field Band HQ, Ft. Meade, Maryland: “Morning of the Race” and “Takin’ Leave”. Jeff Corbett was the Engineer. After a stint playing lead guitar for Heidelberg Little Theater’s record-breaking production of “Grease” in 1983, Lin invited two stars from the production (Bob Heath and Teri Morgan) to do the vocal tracks for “Love Me” at Studio Waldorf in Mörfelden-Walldorf, Germany in May 1983. This was his band’s first 2” 24-track production. Thomas Becke was the Engineer. “Street Dance” and “Waves” were also finalized at Studio Waldorf. After a hiatus of over three decades, Lin added new vocal tracks to “Disneyworld” at Jim Brady Recording Studios, Tucson, Arizona in February 2015. Very special thanks to owner Jim Brady for his exceptional work in re-mastering all 11 songs in February 2015. The final production master of “Over the Years” was completed by Jim Brady on 14 April 2015. DISCOGRAPHY:
