Well that didn’t last very long! Roasted on of our chickens less than an hour ago, and it’s already 90% gone. Pastured chicken is the best tasting chicken!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Rain! The rain will irrigate our land and provide a better quality of life for our cattle, who are in desperate need of some good rain. Last week, I was walking around the field with a finger pointing at the sky and saying, “Looky there! We’re getting enough rain now!!!”

The Meat Industry Lies: There’s a word in the meat industry that consumers don’t know about and they need to. It sounds good to the uninformed, and conjures up romantic images of animals frolicking in an open field. The reality couldn’t be further from the truth. Corporate marketing departments are using this word - “ACCESS” - to sell chicken and eggs from massive stationary CAFO houses with tiny pop doors under labels like “Pasture Raised” and “unlimited access to pasture” and its all being totally supported by retailers, animal welfare groups, and unknowing consumers. You’ll never see these brands post photos from inside of these massive houses, because they don’t want you to think they exist. You’ll only see photos from the birds outside on pasture, which often represents 0-5% of their life. Our birds don’t just have access, they are on grass 24x7 once they are 3-4 weeks of age (before that they are too young to handle the night temps).

The chickens are out on the pasture! It’s been a hot few weeks, but now that they are out on the grass with access to bugs and the breezes we get here, they should be putting on weight fast!

Everyday we come out here it seems they’ve gotten bigger!
