Shawnee County Public Works crews have been responding since early this morning following severe storms that moved through the area overnight.

Beginning around 1:00 a.m. Public Works received multiple reports of storm-related damage across the county, including numerous downed trees affecting roadways in several districts. Additional personnel were called in from Districts 1, 3, and 4 to assist with storm cleanup operations and roadway clearance.

At this time, NW Carlson Road is closed at NW 39th Street due to a utility pole and power lines that have fallen into the roadway. The closure will remain in place until utility crews can safely remove the hazards and complete repairs.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes. Residents should use caution when traveling throughout the county, as crews continue to assess and clear storm damage.

Shawnee County Public Works appreciates the public’s patience as cleanup efforts continue.
