As a certified Educational Social Worker (German: Diplom Sozialpaedagogin (FH)), continuing my education, I've been trained in Germany to teach the PEKiP® program that I fell in love with. Being able to open up a whole new world to parents with newborns in the US, I'm aiming to make your new journey with your baby a more fulfilled experience, empowering you with brain-body-bonding activities, and research-based PEKiP play ideas beyond imagination. My goal is to inform and support you in discovering your baby's natural potential, and leaving you joyful while feeling lost in play with your most precious being in the world, your baby. PEKiP is an educational program for parents and their babies (0-12months) through the first year of life. Based on years of research, psychologists, sociologists, and social workers in Germany developed the "Little Parenting School," which has been successfully taught across German-speaking countries of Europe for over four decades. What is unique about PEKiP classes at Baby Parent Steps?
*Early start at 4-6 weeks of life, focusing on interaction, engagement, and movement stimulation for the whole body supporting baby brain and body development and enhancing the bonding process.
*Small class sizes: 4-6 babies of similar age accompanied by one of their parents
*Group sessions are offered for 75 minutes in person in a welcoming environment once a week. Due to the ongoing pandemic, all classes are virtual via ZOOM until further notice. Private sessions are 45 min; virtual group classes are 60-75 minutes, depending on the number of participants. Infants as young as 6 weeks can be enrolled in age-appropriate classes: 1-3 months, 4-6 months, or 7-12 months. The program can be customized to allow your baby to learn and explore the world at their own pace.
*Individual attention in each session helps transfer the learning success of the parent into everyday life at home or on the go.
* The environment is purposefully arranged for each session (for in-person classes) and demonstrated for all virtual and in-person courses. Creativity has no limits; you will receive suggestions on what you need and how to prepare for your upcoming session. Don't worry; you have almost everything you need for class in your home; otherwise, you can improvise. I'm here to help you create a nurturing and safe environment and challenge your baby to play and have fun without feeling overwhelmed.
* My doll Lisa, whose primary purpose is helping demonstrate activities and providing help for hands-on practice, is the only assistant in class. Classes are taught by an experienced Certified PEKiP® Educator.
