How do you get off the ground without furniture?
Here are two safe and effective options I teach every day — especially for older adults who want to feel strong and confident again on the floor.
Option 1 (Preferred, more challenging):
Start seated, roll onto hands and knees, step one foot forward into a deep lunge, then press up through your legs to stand.
This builds strength, coordination, and floor confidence… but it does take some practice.
Option 2 (Easier starting point):
Start seated, roll onto hands and knees, drive one foot forward slightly, then the other. Walk your hands back toward your legs like a ladder until you’re upright.
Wider base, better balance… great for beginners.
💡 Haven’t been on the ground in a while? Make sure someone’s nearby when trying this for the first time.
And if this is something you or your parent wants to get better at…
That’s exactly why I built HomeStrong — a strength program designed to help older adults get off the floor, regain control, and stay independent.
This is the reason I love what I do!
I keep my patients MOTIVATED and they keep me even more MOTIVATED!
Finding motivation can be extremely hard for someone initially who struggles even to get out of bed but with the right help, attitude and support…anything is possible 💪
