There are a couple of good points here in addition to the main theme. Remember, now your finished film has to be better than you ever imagined in order to compete in today's marketplace. This article seems to focus on the films at Sundance. So if you're planning or in the middle of a film production, your film has to look equally as good, be lit properly, have the sound levels adjusted accordingly, have quality performers and the story, story, story has to be INCREDIBLY unique. If you do anything less, then you're enabling mediocrity. If you want to be a professional, then your film has to be as good as a film at Sundance, Cannes and AFM, whether you get in or not. Of course, all of this is of course, if you're doing this business as a business and not a hobby.
