While I prefer to keep things between 9&5 Monday through Friday so that I can have time with my own family, I will be happy to work with you outside of those hours in order to protect your family

We’re a little behind schedule with these Core Value Check-ups, but since we started the series, we’re determined to finish it! Fittingly, this week’s core value is “We act like owners because we own it.” What an appropriate opportunity to take responsibility for getting off schedule and for bringing things back on track.

Harrison:
Schedule and routine were not the common parts of the past 7 weeks or so, since July 4th. In that time was July 4th, the first line of our support network being out of town for an extended period of time, an extended family vacation for a week, my college buddy annual hangout, national conference in Denver which took up a week with travel, and our son’s first year in summer camp came to an end about a month before classes start. Let me first just say how blessed we are to be able to set such a difficult path to success. What boss could you go to and be like “uhhh don’t count on me in July, but you will see me in August.” None.

Being a business owner isn’t the common mindset. Something I have recently put to Lauren and myself is to treat HBNsurance as our third child and prioritize it as such. It deserves time with each of us as well as with all of us, and some of that needs to be fun, not just producing and building. Denver was a true work vacation and it was fun, but we still had to fit dials, appointments, sales, interviews, and building into that hectic schedule. I assure you that everything took a hit; there is no way to take that much time off and still be at your best. But it does help you find things to prioritize so that you can bring your best to everything you get to do because it is yours, you own it, so act like it.

Lauren:
Acting like an owner means showing up for OUR business. It means sticking to the schedule we’ve set, being accountable for the work that needs to be done, and keeping in mind that the success of this business is totally dependent on our activity and commitment.

Not going to lie, I have struggled with some serious imposter syndrome when it comes to this one! For a long time, I called it “Harrison’s business” but he firmly reminds me that it is OUR business. It is the financial lifeblood of our family and it is what does and will continue to make so many things possible for us. I have to remember what a good employee I was for others so I can step up and be an even better owner for us!

This life isn’t for the faint of heart! We’re definitely facing our share of trials and tribulations building this business, but how many other plug-and-play businesses can you get into for less than $1000 initial investment? We have the system and the opportunity to create a self-sustaining business that will provide for our family and the families of others who join us!
