Male Summer Tanager quietly glowing along the edge of the woods this afternoon. One of those species that almost looks unreal when the light hits just right.

Golden hour with one of spring’s brightest little travelers. 💛
Yellow Warblers may be tiny, but they light up the woods like flying sunlight. These backyard moments are the ones that keep me reaching for the camera.

Painted Bunting!

Ghost Hollow, Oklahoma

These birds may be one of the most beautiful songbirds in North America, but very few actually make it to adulthood. Research suggests only about 1 in 3 young Painted Buntings survive their first year. Between predators, storms, migration, habitat loss, and winter mortality, the odds are already stacked against them.

I went looking for warblers this morning, and found a hidden gem! This is a special day, first Indigo Bunting of 2026!
