Long NightsShort Days? Tho’ i never researched the history of All Souls Day and halloween, i did research ancient beliefs about the Christmas tree. And there are a lot of emotional similarities.
Ancient peoples did not have a World globe or our understanding of the Milky Way and our solar system. As the days kept getting shorter, Belief that the world was coming to an end Caused people to initiate rituals to appease the gods.
The year AD1 certainly put a New face on the rituals and Instilled hope, rather than the ancient fear In people; we have the promise of a Brighter Tomorrow.
