’s Pride. JD was the drummer of choice when Danny Liston set out to showcase his Christian CD and played with him at the Pageant and down in New Orleans at “The House of Blues”. JD also played percussion with Mama’s Pride when they opened for The Michael Stanley Band and Kansas. JD wanted to bring something new to St. Louis and wanted to stay away from being in another bar band. His desire was to get the best musicians he could find and bring them together to roll out the classic sounds of Steely Dan. Thus – Hey Nineteen was formed! Louis Michael

Bass / vocals
Dave got started playing music when he was 16. He used to "steal" his older brother's acoustic guitar & play it for hours. Like a lot of others, he is self-taught not having ever taken formal lessons. He got in his first band shortly after acquiring his first bass guitar at the age of 17. Another group heard him play just weeks after that & lured him away to play in a much better band. In 1981 he landed a gig with a working band that mostly played at weddings, anniversaries, night clubs & private engagements. In 1985 he landed a job at St Louis Music [SLM Electronics] where they were building Crate, Ampeg & Audio Centron amps, mixers & speakers. He then was chosen to be the line supervisor on the Ampeg SVT Re-issue [a limited run of 500] project because of his interest & ownership of Ampeg amplifiers. From there he went to the Service Dept in 1988 & was factory trained to repair pro-audio gear, at the same time still gigging & doing sound around town. In 2000 he joined the local St Louis group Five Long Years, a blues band founded by Steve Vogal. He played with them for almost 10 years all the while repairing amps, recording original material at home in his studio, gigging & practicing. Dave is an avid song writer and sound man. In 2004 he played the Pageant with the group Groove Thang and fronted the band along with Les Phillips in a Doobie Brother tribute. He also played the Family Arena in 2007 doing the Doobie tribute as well. He doesn't consider himself to have a "style" or a "thing" going on. Quote: "I just try to make everything groove" I'm a bass player, it's my job & I love it." Dave likes rock, r&b, jazz, fusion, southern rock, progressive rock & generally music that does not suck. He grew up in Glasgow Village in north St Louis Co. and attended St Pius grade school, Rosary Hi, North Co Tech Hi. Dave is currently employed at Winston Electronics working on & repairing pro-audio gear for local working musicians, practicing, writing & the occasional gig. Mark Crowell

PayDay
Feeling the rhythm and hearing the beat from being married to JD for almost twenty years was definitely the motivation for me to play along with him. After playing drums on his set for a couple of years he surprised me with a beautiful set of LP congas and bongos! The whole set! That was my release to play and add to what he is so good at doing. My set grew to include shakers, tambourines, wood blocks, claves, chimes and my favorite – a rain stick, along with whatever else I could find at the drum store that I could get a sound out of. Influenced by Alex Acuna and Shelia E., I have played with many church bands to include FBCMaryville for almost nine years. I have also had the pleasure to play with some incredible musicians for various charity and fundraising events. Although I did not go to New Orleans, I did play with Danny Liston of Mama’s Pride for his local Christian CD release gigs including the Pageant along with other charity events he did. My list of who’s who may not be long but my desire to achieve and to grow in my gift has always been strong! It is my dream as well to play alongside my hubby in a band that is more than an every weekend gig – we wanted excellence and to pay tribute a most awesome and musically challenging band! I hope you enjoy the show! Erminie Cannon
