Too many people are focused on outcomes, but I’ve learned that real growth happens when you commit to the process. If you only love the results, you’ll quit when it gets hard. But when you value the process, you stay consistent.
Shift your focus, and everything else will follow.
Share this with someone who needs to stay committed to the process.
In this Leadership Lifter episode, “Master the Ordinary Part 2,” I talk about what it really takes to build something that lasts.
When I came to St. Louis over four decades ago and planted Church on the Rock with 35 people, others questioned what would make the difference.
They had seen better communicators, stronger personalities, and more experienced leaders.
But the difference was never talent.
It was commitment to the process.
I made a decision early on.
I would outwork everyone.
I would pray when others were playing.
I would study when others were sleeping.
I would go the extra mile when others would not even go the first.
That became the key.
Consistent effort. Daily discipline. A commitment to do what others are unwilling to do.

I have learned that the difference is not talent, it is discipline. Most people lose interest in doing the same right things over and over, but strong leaders stay committed until it becomes mastery.
If you want to grow, stop chasing new things and start mastering what already works.
Take a moment and reflect on one area where you can stay more consistent this week, and commit to it.
