Created in 2012 through a partnership with the North Area Community Development Corporation, the Sweet Potato Project offered educational and money-making opportunities for “at risk” urban youth. Youth (ages 16 to 20) planted sweet potatoes on vacant lots in North St. Louis and received lessons in marketing, sales, website development and more.
