So I did a thing last saturday π it's been 14 months since I've been in a K3
I was home Friday and thought, "I miss karting. I should race tomorrow." So I hit up the great and we made it happen. The first two practices were my testing the waters sessions. I was hanging with the top guys throughout the day. But wanted to follow and see where my pace was.
Heat one I started 2nd and immediately lost it to 3rd but knew it was a long day and the points weren't awarded for the heats. Beckman caught me after 4 laps, after I had tapped the 11s bumper in the apex of the north pole. Ruining all my momentum. I decided to play the long game and not fight too much. As the higher avg finish was more important than a DNF. Finishing in P4.
Heat 2 was a race full of fun!!! I got to actually test myself and see where I was. I passed 15 karts that race. 10 of which in the first lap. A video of that will be on the channel π. Finished it in a strong P9 after starting 25!
The final was a very strong one from me. I started P6 and had to earn where I finished. It wasn't easy with the fast guys in front of me. But I knew I had worked the day out slowly on purpose and this was the time to put my best foot forward! I got through the field and just barely caught James with 2 to go. Fighting for the last podium spot. It was a fun battle as we are team mates. We both defended hard but fair. And that's what it's about! I was able to get around and claim 3rd place with one to go and man it felt great. Especially since I haven't been in a K3 in 14 MONTHS Since my pole start at Daytona!
None of it could have been possible without helping me race that Saturday, along with making a dependable chassis at the . And finally, for making it the Kartplex's home so many years ago!
This isn't the end of me racing this year, it's only the beginning!
