Childbirth and raising babies do not come with a manual (though we often wish they did), so where are you to look when you have questions? Your OB-GYN is your best and first resource for medical care, but most families have questions and concerns that go far beyond "what's safe during pregnancy," like:

->Will it really be as painful and scary as all the stories I've been told?
->Is it okay for me *not* to breastfeed?
->Why do I have to be in pain during labor?
->How will I feel after having a baby?

These are just a few of the many questions I've heard over the years, and there is plenty to talk about in those questions alone! That's why Nurturing Nature is here. My philosophy as a both a doula and a teacher is this: Pregnancy is about YOUR body, your personal and family experience, and your birth. By learning more about how your body changes - physically, emotionally and psychologically - you can become better informed to make choices that will improve the quality of your experience and help you to be a better parent. There is no *one, right way* to give birth. Whether you choose to use medications or not, give birth in a hospital or home, and whether you've already had babies or this is your first child, each woman's and family's experiences are unique.
