Several professional athletes have played for Creve Coeur Post 397, including Max Scherzer, Dave Silvestri and Travis Mitchell. Hundreds more have gone on to play collegiate baseball, including many at the NCAA Division 1 level. District 10 games are regularly scouted by national collegiate and MLB scouts. Post 397 is not a traditional “traveling” team due to its District structure and the high level of competition within Legion, but we do attend showcase tournaments each year at the AAA level. The AA and A teams are entered in to 2-3 tournaments per year. Legion baseball remains the top level of amateur competition, despite the claims of independent organizations. 75% of all NCAA Division 1 players played Legion baseball, and 50% of all Major Leagues played. American Legion Baseball is the only amateur organization sponsored directly by MLB, and the National Baseball Hall of Fame includes Legion exhibits.
