🕳️ Beneath the Surface – Another Day in the Ozarks 🌎
Got out recently and spent some time exploring what the underground world has to offer—and it didn’t disappoint.
From aquatic life to true cave-adapted species, this trip was a great reminder of how much biodiversity exists in these systems:
🦞 Bristley Crayfish holding down the stream passages
🦎 Salamanders—both Northern Grotto and Dark Sided
🐸 A well-camouflaged Pickerel frog tucked into the flow
🪱 And even a cave-dwelling webworm stretching across the wall
Each of these species plays a role in the delicate balance of cave ecosystems. It’s always incredible to see how life adapts to total darkness, limited nutrients, and constant conditions.
These environments are fragile—every step, every touch matters. We do our best to observe, document, and leave things exactly as we found them.
If you’re interested in caves, conservation, or just want to learn more about what’s beneath your feet, come check out a meeting or reach out to us!
