Freedom For The Taking

I would like to take a moment to honor Juneteenth - the holiday commemorating an effective end of slavery in the United States.

Freedom is very close to my heart and mission after growing up in a religious cult for twenty-six years. Although my experience was bizarre, toxic and deeply traumatic, it was not even close to the horrors that African-Americans have had to endure for many, many years.

The fight for equality and freedom still goes on. I am deeply saddened by the reality of still so much racism, discrimination, and injustice our country continues to allow.

I am learning everyday how to be more aware, more supportive, and more inclusive but I know I also have a long way to go.

To my brothers and sisters of color, one day a year isn’t ever enough or even close enough to honor the pain your people have endured. For whatever it’s worth, I love you. What you bring to the world is priceless. You, are priceless. 💎♥️
