*Long post alert*
May 2010-January 2022 (that’s nearly 12 years for those of you that hate math like me). Besides my formal education, I’ve never invested this much time into something.

I’m grateful for so much that I could easily turn this into a post that would make anyone’s eyes glaze over. So, instead, I’ll try to condense it down.

I’m grateful for:
-my boss (for all the last 12 years) offering me an internship in 2010.
-learning the ins and outs of various decoration processes.
-working with a globally known brand.
-the friendships I made.
-being given the grace to learn from my mistakes.
-experiencing successful cross-departmental collaboration.
-work holiday parties and spirit weeks.
-happy hours.
-a great work/life balance.
-all those Nike promo codes ;).
-the peaceful early morning work routine.
-the financial security of never having to go without a paycheck.
-growth and responsibility.
-my peers accepting me for who I am.
-the support that my brother and I received after losing our mom in 2016.
-all the love and congratulations that my coworkers sent me when I announced my departure two weeks ago.

While I’m incredibly sad to no longer work with my DRI crew and represent the swoosh, I’m also extremely excited for this next chapter.

A while back I reached out to someone in the Kansas City creative community that I have immense respect and admiration for. I didn’t expect a response nor would I have taken it personally if they didn’t get back to me because, ya know, life can be damn wild. However, they did respond. They took time out of an incredibly busy and stressful week to not only respond but to give me thoughtful direction for my portfolio. Well, I’m taking that advice and putting my creative energy where I’d like to see my career trajectory go.
I’ll never stop painting, so you’ll still be seeing that from me, but now you’ll just also be seeing more branding & identity work.
