Medical oxygen is a modern marvel. A complex system of machines filters, compresses, and cools regular air until it's highly purified. While ambient air is about 21% oxygen, 78% oxygen, and 1% trace gases, medical oxygen is usually over 99% pure oxygen. Delivering such highly concentrated oxygen to patients improves their blood oxygen levels, which in turn supports organ function. It's one of many lifesaving tools we use at the hospital every day to help patients with a wide variety of conditions, and we’re grateful to our operations team members for keeping this complicated system running!
