Good morning!
We have decided to find a more affordable and environmentally safe way to get rid of our leftover silt and sediment from our shop. Since we use all natural stone, we keep the sediments and minerals from our scrap pieces. As an alternative, we have decided to try and find local farms and companies who could benefit from this material instead of simply taking it to the dump. This would be free of charge, more information about the positive aspects of the sandstone and limestone silt is below for your reference!

Sandstone is a sedimentary rock composed mainly of sand-sized mineral particles or rock fragments. It is a common rock type that is found all around the world, often forming in areas where there is a lot of sand accumulation, such as in deserts, riverbeds, or coastal areas. The mineral composition of sandstone can vary widely, but common minerals include quartz, feldspar, mica, and clay minerals.

We also work with a lot of Limestone. Limestone is a sedimentary rock greater than 50% calcium carbonate ( calcite – CaCO3). There are many exceptional kinds of limestone formed through a ramification of tactics. It may be precipitated from water ( non-clastic, chemical or inorganic limestone), secreted by using marine organisms including algae and coral (biochemical limestone), or can shape from the shells of lifeless sea creatures (bioclastic limestone). Some limestones form from the cementation of sand and / or mud by way of calcite ( clastic limestone), and these often have the appearance of sandstone or mudstone.

Both of these stones, which we use daily, can be very beneficial to the earth, specifically in soil or sand environments. If you are interested in picking up some of this excess material, please reach out and we can schedule a time to arrange pick up!
