Many people do not realize that puppies cannot shiver. They are not born with that reflex. The shiver reflex actually warms the body. So newborn puppies cannot thermal regulate until they’re about three weeks old.
The puppies are about there, and they have learned how to climb out of their welping box. They also know now to get out of mom‘s way. When they’re first born, sometimes puppies get squished by mothers if there’s not what’s called a “pig rail” in the welping box.
The puppies are now going to have more space and the welping box is gone! It’s graduation day!
Here are some of the pictures as they get bigger in size. Maybe I should keep the welping box in the house to contain my grandchildren??🤣

It still makes me upset when I hear of yet another dog who is going in for their "yearly vaccines". But then I wonder - are people aware of titers? 🩸
Vaccine antibody titer tests are an AMAZING tool (a simple blood test) that your veterinarian can use to measure the level of antibodies in your dog's bloodstream for specific diseases, such as distemper, parvovirus, or rabies.
By measuring the antibodies, we are able to see if we in fact do need to re-vaccinate, and therefore reduce the risk of over-vaccinating our dogs.
PS: Studies have shown that parvo and distemper have a minimum duration of immunity of 7 years by challenge!
