His tragic loss left a profound impact on his fellow deputies, friends, and the community he faithfully served. Deputy Jackson is survived by his wife and child, who continue to carry forward the memory of a husband, father, and public servant whose dedication will never be forgotten.

On December 31, 2017, Deputy Sheriff Zackari "Zack" Parrish, just 29 years old, answered a call that thousands of law enforcement officers respond to every year—a domestic disturbance in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.
He never came home.
As deputies attempted to negotiate with an armed suspect barricaded inside an apartment, they were suddenly ambushed. Zack was fatally shot while protecting others. Several fellow officers were wounded.
But Zack Parrish's story is about far more than the way he died.
Before becoming a deputy with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Zack walked away from a successful banking career because he felt called to serve. He first joined the Castle Rock Police Department and later became a Douglas County deputy in 2017.
Those who knew him describe a man whose faith guided every decision he made. He was known for his contagious energy, quick wit, and ability to bring calm to even the most difficult situations. He genuinely cared about people—not because it was his job, but because it was who he was.
Friends say he constantly challenged himself to become a better husband, father, deputy, and person.
Most importantly, Zack was a family man.
He adored his wife, Gracie, and their two young daughters, Caroline and Everly. At his memorial service, Gracie described him with words that touched hearts across the nation:
"He was my once in a lifetime."
When news of his death spread, thousands of law enforcement officers from across America traveled to Colorado to honor a fallen brother. Streets were lined with mourners. Flags waved. Salutes were held. Tears flowed.
Not because Zack was famous.
