Festival Flashback Friday ๐ŸŽถ

A moment from the 2005 Earshot Jazz Festival's โ€œLegends of Seattle Jazzโ€ celebration, featuring Floyd Standifer.

The concert brought together some of Seattle's jazz greats, including Buddy Catlett, Overton Berry, Woody Woodhouse, Clarence Acox, and Standifer, for an evening honoring the musicians who helped shape the city's rich jazz history. ๐ŸŽท

A performer, educator, and community leader, Standifer was one of many influential Black artists whose contributions helped shape the sound and spirit of jazz across generations in Seattle.

As we recognize Juneteenth, we reflect on the generations of Black artists who have shaped jazz in Seattle and beyond. Their work is part of the enduring legacy of jazz as a vital Black American art form.
