Under new ownership and a new name, IMAX at the Center Theater has "no immediate plans to show features in 2026. For years, the theater was the go-to IMAX theater for serious filmgoers thanks to its massive 60-foot-tall screen, advanced dual 4K laser projection system, and rare 1.43:1 IMAX format that lets audiences see movies exactly as directors intended.
That setup made the theater one of only a handful in the country (and the only one in the Seattle area) capable of showing certain IMAX movies in their full expanded aspect ratio.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup comes to Seattle in 33 days, and local leaders said the city is ready to handle the roughly 750,000 fans expected to descend on the city. They hope a vast majority of those fans choose not to drive to the matches.

This summer, a trip to Pike Place Market could come with a cocktail in hand.
The Pike Place Market Historical Commission officially approved a new “Sip and Stroll” pilot program this week, giving visitors the chance to enjoy beer, wine, and cocktails while wandering through designated parts of the market. If approved by the other necessary agencies, the pilot program will likely start sometime after Memorial Day weekend and run through Labor Day weekend, timed for the market’s busy summer season as well as World Cup visitors.
