This week, we proudly recognize and celebrate our Telecommunicators—the calm voices in chaos, the steady presence behind every call, and the unseen lifeline for our community.
Every day, they answer the call—literally—handling emergencies, offering reassurance, and coordinating critical responses with professionalism, strength, and compassion. Their work often goes unseen, but its impact is immeasurable.
To our team: thank you for your dedication, resilience, and the care you bring to every interaction. You are the first first responders, and we are incredibly grateful for everything you do.

The CARE Department is Hiring Community Crisis Responders and Supervisors.
Seattle’s Community Crisis Response (CCR) program has officially moved out of the pilot phase and is now a permanent part of the CARE Department. We’re looking for people who thrive in a dynamic work environment, value teamwork, and want to help shape a program that’s being built in real time.
Community Crisis Responders (CCR I & CCR II)
CCRs are the frontline of Seattle’s unarmed crisis response system, responding to non-violent behavioral health crises dispatched through 9-1-1.
CCRs provide rapid crisis intervention, assess needs, connect people to services, and document cases.
We’re looking for people-oriented CCRs, who are adaptable, strong communicators, and excited to help grow a collaborative, citywide crisis-response program.
Community Crisis Responder Supervisors
Supervisors lead teams of CCR I & II responders, support daily field operations, provide regular supervision and debriefing of field responses, coordinate with CARE 9-1-1 dispatch, and support responders on complex calls. Applicants with full or associate mental health or social work-related licensure are eligible for this position.
All CCR and Supervisor positions follow a four-day, 10-hour schedule, with early and swing shift options across five offices citywide.
If you want to help shape the future of crisis response in Seattle, we’d love to hear from you. Please visit our job listing for more details or to apply at Seattle.gov/Jobs
