MPJ Back Injury Part 2…. Listen to his wise words and experience!!

DM me for rehab coaching šŸ’Æ

Glad Markelle Fultz was able to rehab through this injury successfully. Coming off of his ACL rehab I think he will be effective next year on the court. He was impactful playing with one arm and not being able to really shoot out there. Good player for sure.

šŸ† DM to train directly with me virtually. I will analyze your impairments and asymmetries and help you develop basketball elite strength for performance and longevity.

No pain no gain approach is backwards. We don’t have to view our training as suffering. Yes, it’s extremely difficult at times, but what is our perspective on this? Powerful or forceful?

šŸ€Common rehab issues with ACL tears include overcompensation.

Fix this with correct ROM, motor control and coordination, and balanced posterior chain activation!

Don’t skip steps before moving on to more advanced stages in rehab!! Coming back too soon isn’t cool if it leads to more issues down the road.

Pain is very complex…

I believe we over-utilize surgery in the sports medicine world.

In Ben Simmons case, he has a chronic back injury that did not
occur from playing basketball.

Rarely do these cases require surgery.

Most surgical cases for disc injuries come from acute injuries that threaten the integrity of a nerve involved.

The nerve is basically starved of oxygen and if this occurs for prolonged periods of time, it can permanently damage the nerve.

I don’t think this was the case with Ben Simmons.

I’m tired of over treating our athletes with invasive procedures.

Many athletes will recover well from microdiscectomy (Dwight Howard), while many others will require additional surgeries and have continued back pain in their careers.

In this Ben Simmons case, we know his psychological issues are a big part of his experienced pain because he was ramping up well until the night BEFORE the game.

In most chronic cases the tissue has already healed but the body is still on high alert physically and emotionally.

Surgery likely won’t fix this, but hopefully it does in this case…

I also wish I could see a video of his low back rehab because the static stabilization is a joke for disc health šŸ˜‚

Discs need compression, decompression, and glide!!!
