Rare mural aesthetic- but one I know some of you can relate to 🤣 I’m either laughing, gasping in shock or crying to myself on the jobsite with a book in my ears. Last week I started painting a mural for a restaurant in downtown Seattle. It’s actually the same mural we painted in their First Hill location, which has been a fun challenge. I listened to every second of “The House in the Cerulean Sea” and I’m obsessed. I love audiobooks on the jobsite because it creates a strong association with the mural. Like last year when I painted their first location, I was listening to “The Patient”.

Anyway what other books should I listen to on the jobsite? Craving a good thriller. Please recommend!!

Playing with scale on low tide creatures. The nudibranch got me going down a rabbit hole, because what do you mean it’s a mollusk that evolved without a shell? And then I learned that all slugs evolved from snails, dropping the shell for evolutionary benefits. When I make art about these things, I am more of an observer than anything else- I don’t have a background in marine biology so I’m learning about them as I go. All of these animals were seen around seattle beaches. If you haven’t seen a nudibranch, I recommend going under the Fauntleroy ferry terminal at low tide. The beach between Lincoln park and the ferry is private- people walk across it, but you can also access the public ferry terminal beach from the street. It’s called Cove Park. I think it’s one of the coolest spots to tide pool in the city. The sea pen was also found there.
