One of the most amazing fish to view in person. These, under Fluval 3.0 lighting. Once mature and finally settled in, they display the most impressive blue sheen. I had these 6 months longer than the A. brichardi "Red" but the "Blue" stayed about 0.5-1 inch smaller. They are a shyer fish and did not require an intentional pH drop to bring out their color. In my observation, they have smaller teeth and eye morphology than and sport a more prominent black mid lateral line.
The "Blues" supposedly come from Lake Mai-Ndombe, while the "Reds", according to Oliver Lucanus, come from Mbandaka. Hoping more literature comes out about the congo tetras and further discourse on proper ID's.
