TSCA reform is just 10 years old this year.

It took more than 40 years to modernize our nation's chemical safety law and give U.S. Environmental Protection Agency stronger authority to review and regulate dangerous chemicals.

Those reforms happened because advocates, scientists, impacted families, and public health champions refused to give up.

Now Congress is considering rollbacks of key protections. We must protect the progress we fought so hard to achieve.

The Supreme Court's decision to block thousands of Roundup lawsuits is a disturbing example of federal preemption being used to limit accountability and undermine states' ability to protect people from toxic chemicals like glypshoate. States have long led the way on public health protections when federal safeguards fall short.

We must oppose efforts to strip states of their rights to protect people from toxic chemical exposures.

New research adds to the growing evidence that toxic chemical exposure during pregnancy can affect birth outcomes. The study found links between exposures to common chemicals like phthalates and both shorter pregnancies and lower birth weights. These chemicals are found in everyday products, making exposure difficult to avoid.

Families shouldn't have to worry that the products they use could put their health at risk. Yet at a time when Congress is considering proposals that would weaken TSCA, our nation's chemical safety law, this research is a reminder of why strong protections matter.

We need government and corporate policies that prioritize health, strengthen—not roll back—chemical safety protections, and ban harmful chemicals from the products we all use.
