My first hand-drawn residential interior design project done in the Spring, loosely brought to life using AI. Interesting to see what AI did with my drawings!

“The Spotlight” is a luxury apartment rental with the guiding force of stage lighting as the visual motif, designed for film industry professionals in Savannah for short-term assignments. The project features reclaimed wood floors, antique designer furniture, and bold lighting for contrast and atmosphere. In making this project I learned my own method for the design process: conceptual development first, then drawing whatever I come up with- not choosing the furniture and materials first but locating the right to suit the concept afterwards. I learned how much I value art and uniquely designed furniture, often needing custom pieces. I pulled on my own experience as a professional organizer for way-finding and space planning for routine. I also used my background as a fine artist in choosing pieces to reflect the concept. And I realized I really need to expand my vocabulary of furniture and the history of it.

While making this I actually got a bit bogged-down with the technical aspects- drawing floor plans and writing specs sheets. I would say the majority of this project was developing the proper space planning and way-finding.
