Goldbeck Gundogs

Breaking News! A big congratulations to trainer extraordinaire, Phil Gray of Covey Flush Kennels, with English Cocker Spaniel Goldbeck Sandpiper ("Piper") bred by Goldbeck Gundogs. Piper was just awarded her UKC "Started Hunting Retriever" (SHR) Title at the Central Alabama HRC hunt tests held this weekend in Brilliant, Alabama. This is Piper's third title, she has also previously been awarded the WDX (Working Dog Excellent) Title from the English Cocker Spaniel Club of America ("ECSCA") and the AKC Junior Hunter (JH) title at less than a year old at the ECSCA 2024 National Specialty Event held in Asheville, North Carolina.

Piper is a daughter of Goldbeck Gundogs' UK Imports, the legendary Omachie Beinn Deargh ("Billy'") (son of the famous FTCh Orgest Yfer, and brother or half brother to 10 UK Field Trial Champions, including two National Champions) x Cleewold Damiana ("Bramble") (daughter of FTCh and 2019 UK National Championship Winner Kiltonbeck Rollo).

This UKC event is predominantly attended by larger dogs such Labrador Retrievers and involves retrieving a full size duck in land based retrieves as well as a set of quite challenging water retrieves. This just proves that Piper has what it takes to "run with the big dogs." Great job all around!

Update: the Goldbeck Gundogs at Junction Gundogs are on fire! 🔥🔥🔥 Special congratulations to English Cocker Spaniel "Junie" handled by Paisley Potaczek of Junction Gundogs who won two second place awards in the Junior Division at the August 2025 Scheels Dock Diving Competition in Eau Claire, Wisconsin! Look closely at those photos below of the amazing flying dog!

This particularly highlights the athleticism of these field bred english cockers as Junie was competing against all breeds, including much larger dogs such as labs, and Paisley was competing against all age groups as there was no junior handler division. Outstanding job by the Junction Gundog crew!

Juni was bred by Goldbeck Gundogs out of UK Imports Omachie Beinn Deargh ("Billy") (half brother to two 1st place winners of the UK National Field Trial Championship) x Kerdat Relentless ("Spice") (daughter of OFTW Kiltonbeck Iron, littermate brother to UK National Field Trial Champion Kiltonbeck Rollo). We have received across the board reports on the excellence of Billy's offspring. Professional hunting guide and trainer, Steve Hutto, for example, just posted: "If you want an EC pup out of one of the top stud dogs “Billy” here you go!! In my opinion he’s the best there is!! We will soon be owners of four pups sired by Billy!" And Steve, who works with these hunting cockers on a daily basis should know. Billy is also the sire of our most recent litter (see July 31, 2025 post) - get them when you can because they won't last long!
