There is something profoundly humbling about experiencing life without fanfare or recognition. In 2016, President Obama and Anthony Bourdain ate pho in a small Vietnamese restaurant, unnoticed by the crowd, yet the restaurant kept their table as a proud keepsake. This image speaks to the quiet dignity that comes from shared experiences—how two human beings, despite their fame, found value in the simple act of breaking bread with others.

In a world that often celebrates external success, this moment reminds us that it’s not the accolades or recognition we seek, but the genuine, humble moments of connection. The true beauty of life lies not in the crowds we attract, but in the intimacy of the moments we share. We can often overlook the importance of these small, unsung moments, but they are the ones that build the most meaningful relationships.

This is a lesson we all need: to find joy in the simple acts of connection. Whether it’s sharing a meal, a conversation, or just a quiet moment with another person, these are the moments that fill our lives with meaning. It’s not about what we achieve, but who we are with when we achieve it.

What are the simple moments in your life that you cherish most? How can you make more of those meaningful connections today? 🍜✨

Working on a new piece, my coworker asked me to do a portrait of his mother as a gift for her birthday. My friend and coworker died suddenly and I put the drawing aside for a time. His death really rattled me so I didn't touch it for months. I will complete the drawing and give it to his mother so she knows how much he loved her. (Mother and nephew)
