Water Engineers for the Americas (WEFTA) was founded in 2002 by a group of professionals desiring to apply their expertise and resources to help alleviate the problem of unsafe water supplies and inadequate sanitation. We seek to improve the quality of life and health of people living in developing countries in Latin America and Africa by promoting community-based, self-help projects. As “roving WASH technicians,” circuit riders are key to ensuring the sustainability of global projects, once constructed. Circuit riders visit completed WASH project sites to monitor operations, solve problems, and provide on-the-job training.
WEFTA’s Executive Director, Tim Wellman, CWP, is championing a move to create modular, field-tested, publicly available, globally adaptable, and easy-to-use resources for circuit riders.
