This inlaid turtle is absolutely exquisitely made. Award winning Navajo silversmith Abraham Begay’s silverwork resembles the overlay style practiced by Hopi craftsmen, but rather than using two individual sheets of silver and overlaying one over the other, Abraham carves away silver to reveal a deeper layer. The legs, head and tail of this magnificent turtle are carved to reveal triangles lines and mountains representing mountains, kivas, and land. This magnificent turtle is one of our featured items this week.
