Three years ago as I started to work as a physical therapist I came across a complicated client. This woman was an avid runner who came to me with knee pain from running. She had been running her entire life had had seen many practitioners who were able to temporarily reduce her pain but nothing had worked to make her pain go away completely.
During our first visit I learned that she competed in running through college and continued to run during her pregnancy’s. All 6 of them. As a busy mother to 6 beautiful, healthy children she continued to run for overall wellness and mental health. After a few visits with me it was clear to me that she wasn’t going to get better with the traditional PT techniques that I’m familiar with so I referred her to a pelvic health specialist.
After 3 visits with the pelvic health specialist she informed me that her pain with running had almost completely resolved.
After that I was motivated to expand my knowledge base in order to help clients return to sport after pregnancy without compromise.
Very excited to announce that I am officially a Pregnancy and Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist!
This training has given me the tools and knowledge to help my clients return to high levels of sport after having children.

Currently sitting in a hot sauna, dripping sweat, working on documentation, and daydreaming about mountain bike season.

Why am I in a sauna? Doing a sauna training program this week to increase a bit of EPO production and prep for a summer full of high alpine fun with my friends.

Also here’s a few specific exercises you should try out this mud season:
1) Bent over rows (palms facing back with a bar ideally rather than dumbbells)
2) tall kneeling vertical bridges (dumbbells on shoulders)
3) Hungarian hamstring curls
4) Single leg bridges
5) middle trapezius T’s in quadruped
6) primal push up shoulder taps (try to stabilize as much as possible and don’t wiggle)

Give that program a chance at 3 sets of 10-20 1-3x/week and let me know what you think!

is coming to Santa Fe next week!! Can’t wait for more pictures to build my brand!

Now that we have made it through the first week of 2022 how are your New Years resolutions coming along?

Personally, I prefer to set a few annual goals followed by action plans rather than New Years Revolutions.

My fitness goal for 2022 is to complete the White Rim bike ride in Moab in 1 day:
Action plan?
1) Find and set up a bike trainer in my house (I know myself well enough that I won’t go to the gym, to me they remind me too much of work)
2) 2 days per week adding 30min of spinning (on top of my regular workouts) through the winter.
3) Dial in nutrition to optimize my training (skiing, biking, lifting) routine
4) Practice HIIT workouts on the bike 1x/week
5) Complete the on the team to get things rolling in the right direction in several different aspects of my wellness

Other goals include finishing PCES certification, taking another dry needling advanced course, and doing more marketing (does this post count?)

What are your 2022 goals? What are your action plans to achieve them?

If you want help setting up action plans, send me an email or set up a Free 20min phone consultation so I can help you manage plans and hurdles!
