Snow days can be beautiful… and also incredibly hard. ❄️

Here in Sandpoint, Idaho, winter can feel long. The roads are icy, routines are disrupted, the sky turns gray, and many of us feel the emotional weight that comes with it. If you’re struggling this season, you’re not alone.

At Paper Cranes Therapy, we know that winter can amplify anxiety, depression, grief, and stress. On snow days especially, it’s important to move gently and intentionally.

Here are a few simple ways to make it through:

✨ Keep a small routine. Even if the day looks different, wake up at a consistent time, shower, or make your bed. Small structure supports emotional steadiness.
✨ Step outside briefly. A short walk in the snow or even standing on your porch for fresh air can reset your nervous system.
✨ Stay connected. Send a text. Make a call. Isolation grows in winter — connection shrinks it.
✨ Cozy grounding. Warm drinks, soft blankets, calming music, journaling — give your body cues that you are safe.
✨ Move your body. Gentle stretching, yoga, or playing in the snow with your kids (or dog!) helps shift stagnant energy.

Speaking of snow-day joy… 🐾
Zen, our therapy dog, made the most of it by picking out a new toy at the pet store — and he’s proudly showing it off at the office! Even small moments of play and delight matter. They remind us that light still exists in the middle of winter.

If this season feels heavier than it should, we’re here. You don’t have to navigate it alone. Our office is a safe place to process life’s challenges and find steady ground again.

Reach out if you’re needing support. Winter won’t last forever — and neither will this hard season. 🤍
